One of those moments when I wish Philip Dawdy would just take over this site
’Cause there are some complicated policy/legislative issues I just think he’d more easily digest and regugitate. Case in point:
Democrats’ Drug Plan Has Pitfalls, Critics Say

The Republican objection to the Democratic proposal is a bunch of BS. Essentially, the Republicans want the price negotiation to be done by private insurance plans so those plans can reap the profits. The Democratic proposal would allow the government to keep the money from negotiated discounts. Medication restriction is one way to cut costs but negotiating prices down due to the sheer VOLUME of medication purchased is another.
The important concept to keep in mind is that patients who are on managed medicare plans cost the government at least 12% MORE than traditional Medicare. If the managed plans disappeared the government could provide better care for less.
Bet that cleared it up,huh?
HS,
I’d just like to add to your statements that the so called Managed Care programs are a euphemism for Managed Profits with little care.
Ever wonder why Americans buy/bought drugs through Canada? Their government negotiates drug prices if I’m not mistaken.
Warmly,
Herb
